Being Fruitful & Multiplying - My Journey as a Childless Woman

As women, we’re often taught that being fruitful and multiplying means one thing – having children. But what happens when life takes a different turn? What happens when, for one reason or another, we don’t bear children?
In 2017, I made a decision that changed my life. After years of battling endometriosis and experiencing its physical and emotional toll, I chose to undergo a hysterectomy. Let me tell you, this wasn’t a decision I took lightly. I knew what it meant – that I would never be able to carry a child of my own. There are days when this reality hits me hard, and I do feel a twinge of sadness, but I’ve come to understand that my path doesn’t have to be defined by motherhood. I don’t regret the decision because it gave me back a quality of life I had lost to constant pain.
Instead of seeing this as the end of my ability to be fruitful, I’ve realized that there are many ways to bring life into the world. Being fruitful isn’t limited to creating a family through children. For me, it meant giving birth to something else entirely – my business, Scorpielle Designs. Scorpielle is my baby, y’all! Through every piece of handmade jewelry, I pour my heart and soul into healing and creativity. This business didn’t just happen by chance; it’s something I nurture, grow, and love fiercely.
Women are so incredibly multi-talented and capable of creating more than just life in the traditional sense. We create opportunities, dreams, art, businesses, and healing spaces. We breathe life into so many things. The gifts we bring into this world are limitless, and our ability to be fruitful has no boundaries.
So, to all the women out there who may not have children or who have chosen a different path, I want you to know that you are still multiplying in ways that are just as impactful, just as meaningful. You can bear fruit through your passions, your talents, your love, and your creations. There’s no single way to define what it means to bring life into this world.
If you’ve ever felt pressure or doubt about your journey, remember that your worth is not tied to your ability to have children. You are worthy because of who you are, and the things you create and nurture hold immense value.
I am fruitful. I multiply through healing, through adornment, and through every single piece of jewelry that I create. And I’m so grateful for that.
Babe, I hope you never forget that you are fruitful, too – in your own unique and beautiful way.
